Celebrating the little victories

Four years of wins for Jasmine Clark - and all of us

It’s hard to believe, but we’ve been making The Suburban Women Problem for almost 4 years now. All of our hosts — Rachel Vindman, Amanda Weinstein, and Jasmine Clark — have grown, raised great kids, started new jobs, moved, advocated for their communities, and done such amazing work since we all met in the spring of 2021.

After the results of the presidential election last month, we need to celebrate as many legislative victories as we can. And in Jasmine (that’s Representative Dr. Jasmine Clark), we keep having wins to celebrate!

This is the very first video we created with Jasmine as we launched the podcast. Back then, Jasmine had recently won her first election for State Representative in her local Georgia district. Since then, she’s won re-election twice - in 2022 and in 2024. In that time, she’s fought for better sex education, reproductive freedom, and Medicaid expansion in her state. She says this year’s campaign was the hardest one yet, but she still won by a few thousand votes.

As we go into 2025 with so much uncertainty, it helps to know we have reps like Jasmine in our corner.

And a special shout-out to the members of Rachel and Amanda’s families that won this year too: Amanda’s husband Casey (State Senate in OH) and Rachel’s brother-in-law Eugene (US Congress in VA). For all the disappointment and heartbreak of Kamala Harris’ loss, we celebrated some exciting wins right here in the SWP family.

All of these wins will help us stand up for our communities in the next year and beyond. Enjoy the rest of 2024 and we’ll see you in January!
