Extremists Are Counting On Our Fear
Dominique Burleson shares her journey from evangelicalism to extremism and back
Dominique was raised evangelical and started doing door-to-door ministry and attending pro-life marches at eleven years old. Eventually she became a “trad wife,” women who advocate for a return to traditional gender norms through domesticity and submitting to their husbands. But then the people around her started to get into QAnon.
It wasn’t easy, but Dominique pulled herself out of extremism by talking to other women who had gone through the same thing. These days she runs an online bookshop called Paperbacks & Frybread, which specializes in diverse and inclusive books.
Listen to Episode 5 of The Cost of Extremism to hear more from Dominique and others like her who were lured into the alt-right through fear and loneliness but made it through to the other side. And you’ll learn about some warning signs that someone you know is being radicalized so we can all prevent this from happening in the first place.
I am a reformed Q another. They recruited me when my husband was purged….. I woke up quick and wow. It has been painful to see this get out of hand. We need a formal 10 Step Program seriously.
