Go Local

Amy shares her story about grassroots organizing at the local level

Here at Red Wine & Blue, we have a new motto — “When they go low, we go LOCAL!”

Amy’s story is the perfect example of what this means. When she learned that LGBTQ+ books were at risk of being censored at her local library, she sprang into action! She gathered her friends and they all spread the word about what was happening. Then they showed up at the next library board meeting and made their voices heard.

We know that things feel overwhelming right now, and we also know that we are not helpless. There’s always something we can do. Start paying attention to what’s going on at the local level — whether it’s library boards, school boards, or city council. Organizing in your own community can have a huge impact on your daily life.

Share this with a friend and make a plan to ‘go local’ together.
