Tennessee Gov. Bill Lee signs into law bill allowing armed teachers

The SWP take: We are deeply saddened by this news. Arming teachers introduces new risks into schools. There have been numerous incidents where a gun has been discharged by staff on school grounds and incidents where guns carried into schools were misplaced or stolen and later found in the hands of students. Even highly trained law enforcement officers will tell you that their ability to shoot accurately decreases significantly when engaged in gunfights with perpetrators. This will NOT make our children safer.

She never wanted an abortion, then she needed one to save her life

The SWP take: Mylissa's story highlights that abortion bans don't just affect women who support reproductive freedom. Abortion bans are a dangerous policy that risk the lives of anyone who is pregnant. Mylissa traveled to three states to get the abortion care that would save her life, but ultimately wasn't able to save her fertility. Bans off our bodies!

California unveils plan opening door to Arizona abortion seekers and doctors
