More than 380,000 Missourians sign initiative petition to put abortion on the ballot
The SWP take: That’s over 200,000 more than what was needed. So, yeah, the rage in Missouri is real. Women want access to reproductive healthcare - just like Michigan woman did when they passed Proposal 3 in 2022 and Ohio women did when they passed Issue 1 in 2023. Missouri, we’re thinking your odds are looking good!
Ariz. governor signs repeal of 1864 abortion ban, but law may still temporarily take effect
The SWP take: Last week Governor Katie Hobbs signed the bill to repeal the 1864 abortion ban! Which is great news! But the bad news is that the ban will still stay in effect for at least 90 days, meaning women in Arizona will have to travel out of state to get abortion care. That's why we are raising money for the Arizona Freedom Trust - and you can help! Join us in donating here.
Doctors worry women will lose access to health care as Florida's 6-week abortion ban takes effect
The SWP take: As abortion bans increase across our states, doctors are being driven out of these areas because they can't practice and provide full obstetric care. That means huge areas of the U.S. are becoming maternal health deserts - where women can't even get basic prenatal care, making pregnancy more dangerous for everyone. And it's not okay. Especially as more states adopt near total abortion bans, like what went into effect last week in Florida. We have to stay informed, stay involved and share this information with everyone you know.
