Oklahoma superintendent appoints Libs of TikTok creator to state library committee

The SWP take: To be clear, Chaya Raichik has NO educational background. She is a former Brooklyn real estate agent who grew up in Los Angeles and created the “The Libs of TikTok” (a group accused of instigating bomb threats against school libraries). We find this appointment offensive and dangerous to students. 

Border standoff between Texas, feds intensifies as governor defies Supreme Court ruling

The SWP take: The Supreme Court said U.S. Border Patrol agents could remove razor wire that the state put in place along the Rio Grande River and Governor Abbott is doubling down, blocking the agents from entering the area. Earlier this month a woman and two children drowned in the Rio Grande as they tried to enter the U.S. from Mexico after Texas military officers prevented federal border officials from aiding them. Abbott’s tactics are inhumane - period.

Nearly 65,000 pregnancies from rape have occurred in states with abortion bans, study estimates
