Supreme Court allows Idaho to offer emergency medical abortions
The SWP take: The Supreme Court decided with a 6-3 opinion to temporarily permit emergency medical abortions in Idaho under EMTALA. As Justice Ketanji Brown Jackson puts it, "Today’s decision is not a victory for pregnant individuals in Idaho. It is delay." Our fight isn't over. This ruling only introduces a pause, placing the responsibility for final determination on state courts.
The SWP take: We can’t believe we have to say this, but Bibles do not belong in public schools. And if Trump wins in November, we can expect more of this as it has been laid out in Project 2025, the far-right extremists’ vision for America.
Conservative US lawmakers are pushing for an end to no-fault divorce
The SWP take: An end to no-fault divorce coupled with the passage of abortion bans around the country means that the country would return to an earlier era when women were often trapped in abusive marriages. This is yet another effort to restrict women’s rights. We knew they weren’t going to stop at Roe.
We must fight until we win .. It could be called apartheid of women .. it must be stopped
