Have you seen the news out of Louisiana? Prenatal care has been dangerously disrupted due to the abortion ban in the state. Doctors are effectively afraid to fully practice medicine due to the risk of losing their license and facing criminal charges. Doctors are going so far out of their way to make it clear they are not performing abortions, that in one case, a woman was forced to have a c-section, rather than a D&C or medication, following her miscarriage. A c-section is significantly more dangerous than an abortion or any other procedure following a miscarriage.
Suburban women knew things were going to get bad as more and more states passed abortion bans, but it’s still truly shocking to see just how bad maternal healthcare is in Louisiana. Check out our hot take with SWP co-host Jasmine Clark.

That seems like malpractice. That doctor should have at least referred her to another state for appropriate care. Now she will likely need a c-section again if she has any more babies because not all OBGYNs do VBACs (Vaginal Birth After Cesarean) and it will be harder to find one in a state with so many maternity care deserts. That is shameful. American women in anti-abortion states are not being treated with the appropriate standards of care and they deserve better. We all do.
