The Supreme Court's "Emotional Support Billionaires"

Can we reform a broken court?

Right now, we have a Supreme Court where a third of the Justices were chosen by a man who didn’t win the popular vote. So of course they’ve been issuing decisions that are way more extreme than what most Americans want.

But it’s not just about the Court’s right-wing ideology. It’s also about their ethics.

Many of us would say that overturning Roe v Wade or ruling that a president is a king is pretty darn unethical already. But it’s worse than that - we’re talking about conflicts of interest, lavish gifts and vacations from their “emotional support billionaires.”

It won’t be easy to reform the Court and hold them to a higher standard. Senate Democrats have tried. But Justice Samuel Alito said, on the record, that “Congress did not create the Supreme Court. No provision in the Constitution gives them the authority to regulate the Supreme Court – period.” This was in response to an exposé about a luxury fishing trip he took with a GOP billionaire… who later had cases before the Supreme Court.

So what can we do?

The first step is awareness. Most Americans don’t want Supreme Court Justices to be in the bag for dark money and special interests. They want Justices who are, well, just. We need to build public support and let our elected leaders know that this is an issue we really care about.

So share this information with your friends and family. Make sure everyone knows that we have to vote like the Supreme Court is on the line, because it is. We certainly won’t see any reform under a second Trump presidency. Only a Harris/Walz administration and a Democratic Congressional majority can bring us closer to the Supreme Court we all deserve.

This post is public so please share it with someone you know! The Supreme Court affects us all.
