They want us to feel powerless. We aren't.
A message from Red Wine & Blue founder Katie Paris
I’m having trouble describing my feelings right now. So I’m just going to be real with you, like always. I feel grief. I feel sadness. And I feel rage.
I know you feel it all, too. I know you’re also exhausted – not just from the work we did but by the fact that yet again, an incredibly qualified woman lost to a man who should have been disqualified long ago. A Black woman who was even more representative of her nation – from her upbringing to her experiences – than a candidate has ever been.
But in a very important way, this time is different. Eight years ago, we did not have this community.
I won’t pretend to have the answers. But one thing I do know – we have each other in this moment. And we’re not going anywhere.
In the past 100 days, I’ve seen us come together like never before. We created a renewed movement that swept up hundreds of thousands of women. So many women, from so many backgrounds, found a new belief in themselves and volunteered for the first time.
In many ways, the last 100 days have been a small, but bright glimpse into our future – one of joy and change and optimism for a better world.
Just think, we had more than 68,000 women gather together at more than 1,600 events. We reached more than 85,000 friends and family to talk about the issues we care about (and that's just those we tracked in our Rally tool). Millions of people learned about Project 2025, the economy, and how to vote against extremism because of YOU and your Red Wine & Blue sisters.
And despite the way the White House and U.S. Senate went, locally, where we live, we had some big wins.
Seven states passed ballot initiatives protecting reproductive rights, and a majority of Florida voters said yes to protecting our rights, too.
For the first time, two Black women – Angela Alsobrooks and Lisa Blunt Rochester – are headed to the U.S. Senate at the same time. Andy Kim will be the first Korean-American Senator. Sarah McBride will be the first transgender Member of Congress.
Extremist Mark Robinson lost his bid for governor of NC and Moms for Liberty extremist Michele Morrow lost her attempt to take over the NC public schools as State Superintendent.
Three quarters of the school board extremists we targeted lost their bids in Michigan – and it’s looking like almost ALL of them will be defeated in Virginia. We also won the critical MI State Supreme Court.
Commonsense candidates picked up seats in the Ohio and Pennsylvania state legislatures and elsewhere.
That’s a lot to build on. We have so much power in this community, and we’re not going to let up in our fight, no matter who is in office. Please lean into this group for comfort and strength.
We have over 600,000 women in the Red Wine & Blue community and 500 local TroubleNation groups. If you haven’t connected with one near you yet, I want to invite you to find your people here. You are not alone.
Find each other, and stay with us.
I’m not giving up, and neither are you.
Katie
I feel the same way as everyone else except I also feel a deep disappointment in the large number of women who voted for him. Their reasons are probably varied but the fact remains he is a danger to women and women’s rights and they have chosen to ignore that danger. Sad…
Thank you!!
