Vice President Kamala Harris Keeps Making History

Her story is one of fierce determination

Vice President Kamala Harris was born in Oakland, California in 1964 to parents who immigrated from India and Jamaica. She graduated from Howard University and the University of California, Hastings College of Law.

Her parents were activists, instilling Harris with a strong sense of justice. They brought her to civil rights demonstrations and introduced role models—ranging from Supreme Court Justice Thurgood Marshall to civil rights leader Constance Baker Motley—whose work motivated her to become a prosecutor.

Throughout her career, the Vice President has been guided by the words she spoke the first time she stood up in court: Kamala Harris, for the people.

Her story is one of fierce determination.

Watching Kamala Harris’s journey from San Francisco’s first Black woman Attorney General to our current Democratic presidential nominee has been incredible. With President Biden backing her, we’re excited for her next chapter!
