White Christian Nationalism is a Dangerous Ideology
Listen to our Sacred Politics podcast series about white Christian Nationalism starting on September 4th
In last week’s conversation with historian Nancy MacLean, she called the Ku Klux Klan the original white Christian nationalist movement in this country.
If you missed that episode, listen here.
Both the KKK and white Christian nationalism conflate the United States with the Kingdom of God and both are dangerous ideologies that are steeped in racism. That’s exactly why it’s important for us all to understand the dangers of white Christian Nationalism in American politics amidst the 2024 election cycle.
We created a 3-episode special podcast series that uses compelling narratives and expert interviews to examine how white Christian Nationalism influences elections, legislation, and public discourse, while also highlighting how faith-driven activism can inspire meaningful and positive change.
It’s called Sacred Politics and Episode 1 will be available next Wednesday, September 4th through the Suburban Women Problem podcast feed and here on Substack.
In Episode 1, we look through American history to uncover the profound influence of white Christian Nationalism. From pivotal moments like its role in electing President Ronald Reagan to its impact on the pro-life movement, this episode delves into the intricate relationship between religion and politics in the United States.
Episode 2, available on September 5th, focuses on the trajectory of white Christian Nationalism and its looming impact on the nation's future. In this episode, we explore the shifting power dynamics and discuss the potential scenarios where white Christian Nationalism could shape electoral outcomes, policy agendas, and public discourse in the 2024 election.
In the final episode, available on September 6th, we delve into the intersection of religion and social activism. From advocating for human rights to championing environmental stewardship, we uncover how religious groups and individuals have leveraged their faith to fuel positive change.
You don’t want to miss this important series!
Thank you for presenting this series. What Jesus actually taught is NOT what these “white christian nationalists” are trying to foist of on the American people.
Perhaps you will invite Robert P. Jones of the Public Religion Research Institue (PRRI) to the pod. He has tremendous knowledge and insight in this area.
